Exploring Ethnic Foods

I am 25. I am a sophomore with a major in Journalism and a minor in Restaurant, Tourism, and Hospitality Management. My goal one day is to do food journalism and write for a publication like Bon A Petit or New York Times Cooking. My parents own a fine dining restaurant, I grew up in the restaurant industry, I currently work in food service and I have a culinary degree, so I am very comfortable in the kitchen and learning to create and explore new dishes. My favorite part of this experience was getting to explore the ethnic markets in Lincoln. They are truly fascinating, and I could spend hours exploring them.

My experience with ethnic foods is pretty limited. My family never really ate anything other than American and Italian. This project really opened up my horizons for new food to try.

I had no experience with cooking and never really have tried any of the food that we ate and then recreated. This project helped me to learn more about all the different cultures and restaurants in Lincoln.

I am a sophomore Journalism major with a minor in English.
While I have always been a big fan of food, my cooking past was very limited and my experiences with ethnic food were even fewer. Doing this project introduced me to new food, restaurants, and communities and cultures all available within Lincoln.

Some of my favorite hobbies include reading, writing, traveling, listening to music, and going on walks.

I want to work for a magazine and hopefully write my own books and poetry.

I have a bit of cooking experience, mainly with Mexican dishes. I always watched my mom cook dinner growing up, and I would occasionally help her. I learned how to make a couple of dishes myself through her.
